URIIT develops various research topics, holds scientific seminars and competitions. URIIT cooperates both with the Russian and international partners.

Main research areas

 Basic and applied research for oil and gas industry (Laboratory of informatization of oil and gas complex processes,  Laboratory of 3D seismic)  

 Development of space and information technologies for nature and ecology monitoring(Laboratory of space-information technologies,  Remote sensing center)

 Mathematical modeling in issues of environmental protection( Laboratory of mathematical problems of ecology and nature management).

 Development of promising applied software for factories and organizations of the autonomous region (geographical, information, multimedia systems, e-commerce systems and others)(Laboratory of net information technologies,  Laboratory of computer graphics).

 Development of information and analytical systems for decision-making in the management of socio-economic objects(Laboratory of economical cybernetics,  Information-analytical center).
